About us

Dr. Jennifer Schulz is a landscape planner with a focus on Forest Landscape Restoration planning and sustainable land use techniques. Her experiences entail the development of methods for large-scale multifunctional restoration planning. She has experience in participatory planning approaches as well as the planning implementation of agroforestry.

Dr. Jesco Humpola is a mathematician with a wide experience in solving large-scale optimization problems with the end to provide decision support.

 

Our services

Forest Landscape Restoration is a complex approach with the aim to serve multiple targets over broad areas, hence comprising the interests of a variety of landusers. Mostly restoration is costly and competes spatially with intensive land uses and the benefits that people can obtain from their land use. Hence restoration often is limited in terms of its spatial extent while it needs to fulfil several ecological and economical functions at once. Consequently one core problem is the question of where to restore to serve these multiple targets facilitating the enhancement of multiple ecological functions while reducing the trade-offs with land uses, e.g. through alternative income generation.

We have focused on the question of where to restore landscapes through systematic spatial planning searching for spatial synergies and the optimization of win-win solutions.
